Only in the movies can a woman go to bed with her makeup on and wake up looking gorgeous!

I discovered this “ancient” treasure when watching old movies on cable TV. This 1937 short film popped up in between feature films. It stars an actress named Constance Bennett, whose most famous movie is a ghost comedy titled “Topper”, with Cary Grant (think George Clooney with a British accent). I can imagine young ladies in the movie theaters, taking mental notes: cleansing cream, stimulating cream, then a mask…

A skincare regimen/ritual is essential for healthy looking skin. Performing a mere five or 10 minute morning and evening “beauty ritual” can make our faces the best they can be!

Why take the risk of going to sleep with a full day’s worth of grime on your face?  The results can be devastating to the skin! At the end of a 18 hour-plus day being bombarded with pollutants, airborne toxins and a host of other impurities, it may require more than just washing your face before dropping off into bed at night!

The key is to stick with a skincare regimen so that you wake up refreshed and radiant. The best products are enriched with natural botanicals and vitamins.

As you can see from the short film, even 70 years ago, women took time to use products to make sure their skin remained clean, healthy and glowing.

But we know in actual ancient times, women also used ingredients in their skincare rituals that we still use today, like Mud. Lemon Juice. Sugar. Milk. Sap from the aloe vera plant. I could go on!

We have been caring about our faces for a long, long time!

One day I will make a “Daily Beauty Rituals” video like this, only updated. Yes, you all should still use a cleanser and a toner every day. But we don’t have time to use a mask every day. Wow, if we only had time to soak in a bathtub every morning (with a maid to draw the bath and to clean up after us). And note:  we should rinse off the cleanser before going on to the “stimulating cream” (now known as toner)! Oh well; I guess there was no running water in that sink on the studio set to do it. That little movie missed a step or two. I hope that the poor girls sitting in the theater realized that.

I will write more about skin care: past-to-present/ present-to-past in future posts. In the meantime, I need to find a luxurious lace and silk robe like Miss Bennett had…
