It’s National Spa Week April 11–17 but don’t let it be the only week that you treat yourself to pampering and rejuvenation at a beauty or wellness spa. A spa visit is both a calming and an energizing experience. You will leave with a renewed dedication to a healthy regimen, inside and out.

Depending on the experience, expect to spend $80–$400 per service or $1,000–2,500 for a three– or four–night stay. Here are six Day and Away Spas with locations near and far.

I recently took time from visiting old friends and family in my hometown of Miami to have a mani–pedicure at Margaritaville Beach Resort‘s St. Somewhere Spa in Hollywood, Florida. With eight Margaritaville hotels in the US South and Caribbean, Margaritaville in Hollywood, Florida is the newest resort. As you can expect, the spa’s services have Jimmy Buffet themes. How about a “Lost Shaker of Salt Scrub”? St. Somewhere is a full service beauty and wellness spa that I plan to return to every time I go home.

Since my relatives live in the Bahamas, when I get there,  I try to spend as much time as I can with them. But I stole away and had an amazing time at this spa which combines ancient Balinese healing techniques, traditional European therapies, and natural Bahamian elements. What sounds more like the Bahamas than Elemis “Frangipani Body Nourish Wrap”? Choose the Alfresco Massage and relax while listening to the ocean. Find these spas in Aruba, China, Disneyland and Disney World, Egypt, Guam, Japan, Indonesia, Las Vegas Malaysia, North Carolina, Russia, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and on Norwegian Cruise Lines.

“Austin’s Favorite Spa” has opened a location in Houston, my college town. These spas offer a variety of treatments using organic and natural ingredients — mani-pedicures use non-toxic LVX polish. Another specialty are the scrubs, massages, mani-pedicures and peels that change with the seasons: pomegranate products for the winter, pumpkin in fall and orange blossom in the spring.

For years, Mario Badescu Salon Day Spa has been my favorite New York City place for facial treatments. There are collagen treatments, gold and pearl mask facials, seaweed wraps, reflexology, electrolysis and more. While New Yorkers can enjoy personalized services, Mario Badescu products can be found in stores all over the world. A new item, Botanical Exfoliating scrub, was launched last year and would be obvious to use with other Mario Badescu products at home to turn your bathroom into a “Stay Spa”.

Stay Spa? You can save that for another day, because there’s nothing like being indulged and pampered away from home…
