Cailyn is made in Korea and is a Los Angeles–based makeup line with elegant packaging. It is introducing its new skincare line by featuring the V11 Serum, named because the formula contains 11% vitamin C and fullereme, which stabilizes the vitamin C and keeps it from degrading. There’s no oil in this elixir; instead, the moisturizing, toning and anti–aging properties come from extracts of fruit, flowers and leaves. Mix it in makeup, or put it on before making up. Just three to five drops of V11 serum in the morning and bedtime is all that’s needed. Good for cuticles, too.

Indigena is a 100% natural land and sea–inspired bath and skincare line based in north eastern Canada. Calming, fragrant botanicals that grow in Newfoundland and Labrador are unique ingredients in the formulations of the lotions, scrubs, bath bombs and salts, beard balm, toner and serum. Indigena’s first products, Labrador Tea Day Creme, Blueberry Bliss Sugar Scrub and Patridgeberry (aka Lingonberry) Lip Balm, debuted ten years ago.
The Bakeapple (aka Cloudberry) Bliss Sugar Scrub contains an unique scoop: a small locally-sourced shell. The scrubs’ ingredients are food-grade. Its Blueberry Mask comes dry and contains white clay, pro-biotic fermented blueberry and rosehip seed. Taking a hint from their names, use the Sunrise and Sunset biphasic serums at the appointed time of day (see above two bottles, one containing red and the other yellow). Sunrise contains extracts of several local berries. Sunset has rosemary essential oil and leather leaf extract. These elixirs are the newest addition to the line. Indigena also makes lotions and bath soaks for weary muscles. The products for men — Beard Oil and Balm — contain mango butter, shea butter, blueberry seed oil, tsubaki oil as well as extracts of coffee, vanilla and pink grapefruit, conditioning the beard and the moisturizing the skin underneath. Generally “bay men” prefer the oil, but the more sophisticated “townies” prefer the waxy balm that won’t potentially drip on their shirts. Beard Balm can be used on cuticles, too. CEO Lisa Walsh, an aesthetician, is in the midst of patenting the her shea butter whipping system. Soothing Indigena line makes one want to spend their next vacation on the east coast of the maple leaf country.

Karité Shea Butter Créme Mains is a brand new hand cream product created by three Florida–based sisters from Ghana. The sisters — a dermatologist, an attorney and a sales and marketing expert with an MBA — received their degrees in America but could not find moisturizers as effective as the shea butter they used when they were younger in Ghana. Karité uses a unique technology that blends raw, unrefined shea butter imported directly from Ghana with sustainably–sourced palm oil and organic coconut oil. Rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins A and E, Crème Mains hand cream helps restore moisture and reinforce the skin’s barrier while leaving skin smooth, plump and baby soft. Crème Mains is formulated with a limited number of ingredients, making it safe for sensitive skin. The cap on the 32 ounce tube is made of wood; just another reminder of how close to nature this product is.
