Beauty editors and bloggers were able to see several great products up close at the BeautyPress fall Spotlight Day event. Cleansers, skincare with an unusual ingredient, makeup, eczema and dermatitis relief from around the world and back, easy facial hair waxing systems, and a beloved 40 year old hair color company were on display with their owners and representatives available for questions.

Pamela Busiek, President/CEO of ICMAD

Also at the Fall 2018 BeautyPress event was Pamela Busiek, the president and CEO of the Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers and Distributors (ICMAD), an important international organization that has supported cosmetics companies for 44 years! Ms. Busiek and her company advocate for members big and small, providing information on company building, complicated shipping logistics, insurance and organizing networking and educational events. ICMAD also keeps its eye on trends, and keeps track of safety and compliance regulations all over the globe. I was so impressed that this very busy, very influential woman took time from her busy schedule to meet with us!

Anyone with unwanted facial hair should seek out the quick and easy depilatory products by Andmetics. Their cold wax strips are shaped to fit precisely under the eyebrow, or between the brows or the upper lip. Strips are also available in shapes for male faces. Just powder the skin with any powder of your choice, peel the strips, press on and pull off. That’s it. You can use the strips as a guide to fill-in sparse areas with eyebrow pencil. The treatment will last two to three weeks!

Mulberry and Plumberry. These are the big trendy fall lip colors according to ECRU New York, a prestige hair and beauty company founded by professional hair stylists and makeup artists. ECRU New York products are meant to be “multi-functional”: for instance the styling spray can be used before using a hot hair tool. Not only does the mascara elongate and separate lashes; it contains argan oil for conditioning. Lipsticks result in either a satin or matte finish just with a swipe on the lip. The company has curated 10 lipcolors that are paraben free, long wear and hydrating and they feel luscious!

Israel meets China? The Kamedis Dermatology Company was founded in Israel in 2003 by Roni Kramer, a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner. She used Chinese botanic extraction techniques to create formulations to soothe and solve skin problems such as atopic dermatitis, eczema, acne, dandruff, psoriasis, dry skin and itchy/irritated skin. You’ll see ingredients such as purslane, licorice, chrysanthemum, Chinese rhubarb and indigo. Even the colors on the packaging are calming!

Would you ever guess that one of the most unusual ingredients in Mathilde B  Lady Mathilde face creams is not the black Russian caviar, not the 24 carat gold and not the pearl nor the diamond dust? Care to guess? This unusual ingredient is full of vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, C, D and E. According to legend, Cleopatra maintained her youthful and beautiful looks by bathing in it. In addition to this ingredient’s anti-aging qualities, it is ideal for teenagers with acne. Give up? This French company incorporates donkey milk into all of its products! Founder Mrs. Leon (also known as Mathilde’s mom) sells these luxurious skincare and shampoos for men and women in France, Middle East, UK, Hungary and Romania, and soon will be available in the USA!

The One and Only: Snooky of Manic Panic!

Does anyone else get excited when they hear that Manic Panic products are nearby? One of the most fun hair treatments that everyone can see delivers is 40 years old! In the 70’s sisters Tish and Snooky were backup singers for Blondie and decided to open a store on St. Mark’s Place in Manhattan’s East Village to sell the rainbow of shades that they continue to wear themselves. Just in time for cosplay at ComicCons and Halloween, Manic Panic featured their Jem Amplified Hair Color line, a tribute to Jem and the Holograms. The popping pinks, greens, violets, and blues are semi–permanent and they glow under black light! You know that Manic Panic will be ahead of the grey hair trend with High Voltage Hair Dye in Blue Steel, Alien Grey and Amethyst Ashes. All the products 100% vegan and cruelty-free, and are also free of parabens, gluten, ammonia, resorcinol, PPD and phthalates. As with all Manic Panic products, 15% of the profits are donated to various charities. I tried out the Amplified Color Spray in Stardust — but just one coat of sparkly gold on a small section, since I was going off to another appointment…

Korean-born Kocostar (http://kocostarusa.com) wasn’t present, but all the editors and writers at the BeautyPress event received samples of its sunny pastel camouflage-colored hypoallergenic mask collection that treat areas from hair to feet and every where in between, for all ages! The K-Beauty company’s Hair, Face, Eye, Nose, Lip, Breast, Belly, Hand Moisture, and Foot Moisture Masks are currently available at Sephora Europe and Neiman Marcus.
