Ain’t Too Proud deserves all its 12 Tony Award nominations including Best Musical!
Ain’t Too Proud on Broadway: This musical journey is my childhood journey. It’s the story of The Temptations, Motown’s greatest vocal group in history.
You could feel and see the crowds’ eagerness to witness and experience the exhilarating performance about to be at hand! I couldn’t wait to find my seat so I could sit down, “put on my seatbelt” (ha–ha) and go “back to the future” and past. Although I was a very young girl at the time, I remember jumping rope, being hot, skipping to the corner store to get candy, riding bikes and all the time the tunes and sounds of the Temptations were constantly playing! You could hear it on a radio of a car driving by or coming out of neighbors’ windows. You could hear a song playing over and over by some teen who might’ve been heartbroken or needed to get courage, the skips and repeats and scratches on the record player and–all.
The actors are multi–talented triple threats: acting, singing and dancing. It’s no wonder three members of the cast are nominated for Tony Awards!
The Temptations’ Ain’t Too Proud Broadway play continues to the head of the pack with its non stop “strut” and musical revue of the life and times of their past. But get to the box office quick; best seats are available in July!
