Ahhh, Spring!

When we think of spring, we start to put away our winter wardrobe (no more covering up!) and bring out lighter textures and more colorful palettes that reflect the new season. We should also pay attention to our skin and whole body. Take advantage of the changing season to inspire you to get rid of dry, dull-looking, lifeless skin caused by the harsh weather. Now is the time to adopt a healthy diet that includes fresh fruits and vegetables which will make the skin more radiant. Spring is also the time to give those muscles a tune-up. Most of us have neglected fitness and exercise while hiding indoors from extreme cold. Just as the tree buds and flower bulbs emerge, now is the time to rejuvenate, rehydrate and renew!

Spring is the ideal time to make an assessment of your skin condition, skincare products, beauty and exercise routine. You must shed the heavy layers, focus on revealing a fresh-faced look and prepare your for your spring debut. Revitalize with a head-to-toe beauty regimen.

Do not delay starting a healthy diet and exercise plan. Pick up the pace: indulge in outdoor walks, ride a bike, or take an energizing workout class like zumba. It does not take a lot to boost and improve your body.

You don’t have to spend a fortune; you can take care of your skin and body at home. But if you can, consider getting the advice of a beauty professional. Splurge on a visit to a spa or retreat that will get your body into tip-top shape and give you the confidence to display the parts you’ve been hiding. Restore tone, bring back the vibrancy to your skin and get rid of all the tension that your body has stored up all winter.

Pamper in a home spa

Think invigorating aromatherapy, detoxifying, body treatments, hydromassages, full body mask treatments, reflexology, foot massages and seaweed baths and other services that refresh the skin and get your blood circulating. Facials that contain alpha beta hydroxy acid (AHA) will reveal naturally-glowing skin.

Consider going away to a traditional spa; there is no better place to launch that spring renewal than with a change of scenery and extensive time dedicated to pampering and re-energizing. Enjoy freshly-squeezed juices and nourishing cuisines by spa chefs. A three- or four-night package at a traditional spa getaway will range $1,000-2,500 and will leave you with a renewed dedication to a healthy regimen, inside and out.

Day spas in your city are a satisfying alternative for those who don’t have the time or funds to spend out of town. Take a half-day off or end your workday early! Make it a mini-vacation! Choose from services lasting four or six hours that range $100-$500.

Day Spa, Away Spa or “Stay Spa”? That’s up to you. Do your research and determine which treatments will be perfect and affordable for you.

But once you’re home from the Day or Away spa, don’t stop the rejuvenation process. Turn your bathroom into a Stay Spa, Try this:

Orange Blossom

Aromatherapy: use products with ingredients derived from nature: herbs, flowers, extracts from tree bark and leaves. Peppermint, rosemary, jasmine, orange peel are so effective. Candles with natural oils can be relaxing, too.

Orange Blossom

Soothing Baths: bath salts ease tired, achy muscles after your new workout routine. A bath of powdered milk gets rid of dry, ashy skin. Add fresh herbs, plant extracts and oils mentioned above to your bath.

Orange Blossom

Skin/body Treatments: exfoliate your skin with scrubs purchased from the spa you visited or a sea salt scrub made at home.

And when your Stay Spa session is done, don’t forget to moisturize!

Repeat throughout the year for a continuously healthy mind, body and soul.
