So special to be present at an event for such an important cause on June 5: the Style for Strength – Celebrating Our Heroes auction to raise money for Veteran Services USA treatment for post traumatic stress in veterans. Organized by Donna Karan and Cheri Kaufman, the first event of its kind was held at Urban Zen. Such an important cause.

Donna Karan and Cheri Kaufman brought together great designers including Frederick Anderson, Rodney Epperson and Terry Singh. Other participating deisngers include Peter Dundas, Bann, Tommy Hilfiger, Kenneth Cole, Rebecca Moses, Thom Browne, Michael Kors, Erin Beatty, Emily Adams Bode Aujla, Hillary Taymour, Rio Uribe, Bonnie Young, Rebecca Moses, Jonathan Cohen, Kobi Halperin, Vanessa Noel, and Donna Karan via Urban Zen.

The designers’ assignment was to repurpose and redesign vintage military clothes and materials and remake them into one-of-a-kind designs for auction. Very creative!

Host of the event Seth Herzog introduced Tess, one of the oldest female veterans, nearly 100 years old!

Alicia Keys was also a guest; her stepson was one of the models for the 19 fashion designers involved.

Designers Terry Singh, Rodney Epperson and Frederick Anderson were there to present their creations.

Met the amazing Alva Chinn!  What a legendary career. She’s probably most well-known for being a Halstonette, one of the designer Halston’s favorite models. And she made Versace, Saint Laurent, Chanel, and Chloé designs look fabulous, too.

Also attending were “Power” actor Michael Rainey Jr., artists Mickalene Thomas and Jamel Robinson, model-turned realtor Dovanna Pagowski, celebrity hair and makeup artist Steven Rice and more.

So many talented and fascinating people at the event, all for an important cause: https://vsusa.org
