19 Years! The Makeup Show had another successful event this May! Always must-go experiences in New York City every winter and spring for cosmetics professionals. And I make sure that I don’t miss them!
This is one of the largest professional makeup events in the United States! Thousands of pro artists, students, union members, and amateurs come to the show hosted in the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City’s Chelsea section every year.
Beyond the usual display of major and indie brands, classes, panels and demo techniques, the celebrity MUAs showed how they put the “art” in the “makeup artist”.

In the photo above, I am standing next to the banner for #TheBeautyExpense The Beauty Expense app, a bookkeeping smartphone app for beauty professionals. Maude Okrah Hunter is the founder of #BlackBeautyRoster and the bookkeeping app.
Pat with Danessa Myricks

Caught up with Danessa Myricks, whom I’ve known for a long time. Danessa is a Sponsor of The Makeup Show. She held a Masterclass with Rokael Lizama. Her products are fabulous and she receives so much respect in the industry!

Chatted with esthetician and educator Nick Lujan #NickLujan_Artistry, who always does beautiful work. He held lectures on Color Theory & Color Correction, Brows and Lashes, and Skincare for the Working Makeup Artist.

Makeup Show founder Shelly Taggar with James Vincent.
Congrats to The Makeup Show co-owner Shelly Taggar #SHELLYTAGGAR for another great event. Beauty professionals have to, have to, HAVE TO attend #TheMakeupShow, wherever it’s held.
Director of Artist Relations and Education James Vincent #jvincentmakeup is a key part of the The Makeup Show over the years, a wealth of knowledge. This event wouldn’t be so successful without his presence and presentations.
One of the products I found so impressive this year: #DNAhairtools that straightened so easily.
One of the great brands I discovered: #Jao_brand refresher sanitizer and goe body oil.

Exhibits include PatMcGrath Labs, Danessa Myricks Beauty, ESUM Cosmetics, NUDESTIX, MOB Beauty, Neen, LYS Beauty, Janet & Jo, B3 Balm, Ashunta Sheriff Beauty and Cade.

Met so many business owners with great products including Arturo Carvajal #ArturoMUA and Katerina Packis of Danessa Myricks Beauty and Byron Barnes of Glamazon Beauty. Ran into Terry McDonald of #tmcdonaldcosmetics again this year.

Nineteen years of… exhibits of the latest products… the live demonstrations of the newest techniques… the viewing of makeup artists who transform models into fantastic characters… the lectures and panel discussions about the state of cosmetics business… the opportunities to network with others in the beauty industry… the chances to catch up with old friends I’ve worked with through my career — this is the place where it happens!

Demonstrations included: Joe Dulude II, T. Cooper, Jeanine Lobell, James Kaliardos and on the Danessa Myricks Beauty International Stage: Bernicia Boateng, Yolanda Frederick, Einat Dan, Adrian Rios and Sterling Tull.

Lectures about working in TV and film, brides, mature faces, marketing, agents, building a pro kit. There was one-on-one portfolio consulting! A great experience for people in the cosmetics industry.

The next Makeup Show is in Chicago November 16–17. Don’t miss it!  https://www.themakeupshow.com
