I didn’t get to Paris this year, but the Olympics came to me! Last month I went to Montreal and found the rings. And then I was taken to a special Olympics opening ceremony viewing event in New York City’s Rockefeller Center, home of NBC.
Watching the athletes in the Olympics reminds me of when I played volleyball, basketball and track and field, After being a Junior Olympian and then a high jumper on athletic scholarship at Texas Southern University, I was headed to the Olympics, too, but there was a boycott in the year I went to the trials.
I had 1984 Olympic Gold Medal winner Chandra Cheeseborough as a Junior Olympic roommate. I met Olympic legend Florence Griffith Joyner several times in competitions. FloJo set the stage for today’s glam girls: lovely hair, beautiful skin and nails. Are you noticing how glamorous the current athletes are?

Those fierce competitions and workouts put their complexions to a test. All sorts of problems can occur, from blackheads, acne, rashes, dehydration, sun and snow burns, infections and more. The sweat glands in the skin make acidic secretions. Always wash your hands before touching your face so to not add to the problems. Find cleansers with pH levels ranging from a 5-7. Exfoliants and skincare products with vitamin C and retinol can range from a 3.2-6 pH. Thoroughly rinse out shampoo, conditioner and other hair care products so that they don’t drip down to your face, causing clogging and irritation. Your face will thank you with visible results of more vibrant and brighter looking skin!
