Whether basketball, track or volleyball, I was always the tallest on the team!

The flame has been put out, but I’m still in the Olympics mood. Every four years, the summer Olympics takes me back to my serious athletic years. “‘Slim’ is always putting on all that makeup,” my track teammates in high school and at Texas Southern University would say. But usually it was just powder to tame the perspiration on my face. At that time, as a high jumper in the track and field Junior Olympics, college and pre-Olympics events, I had 1984 Olympic Gold Medal winner Chandra Cheeseborough as a roommate, and I met Florence Griffith Joyner several times. (I’d also see Jackie Joyner-Kersee at events.) I was headed to the Olympics, too, but there was a boycott in the year I went to the trials.

I love watching the Olympics: the fanfare, people from nearly every country, the talent, the strength and intensity. The athletes take this seriously and it is so fun to watch them all do their best!

FloJo set the stage for today’s glam girls: lovely hair, beautiful skin and nails. She was always tailored with great style! You probably noticed many of the athletes look glamorous even while competing, That’s not an easy feat, but following basic skin care rules makes them look their best even through the stress, sweat, chlorine, salt water, snow, dirt, bacteria — whatever their faces face in their sport.
Post-workout rules:
    • Wash your hands first before touching the face.
    • Be gentle when washing.
    • Use tepid not hot water (hot water is drying)
    • Don’t over-scrub or use too much product that won’t rinse off.
    • Rinse well!
    • Never rub the face hard to dry it
    • Pat face dry with a clean towel — but not the towel you used while doing your sport!

Finally, drink! Keeping hydrated is as important for the skin as cleansing! Your face will thank you with visible results of more vibrant and brighter looking skin!
