I haven’t had the chance to attend the International Beauty Show and International Esthetics, Cosmetics and Spa Conference in New York City since the pandemic began, so it was like coming back home! It is still an amazing and overwhelming-in-a-good-way experience for people who work in the beauty industry. When I began working as a model or cosmetics rep this immense event, products were European and American-sourced. And now we see products from all over the world. I always bump into beauty industry veterans and interact with young artists just starting their careers.
Beauty and spa professionals attend the Shows in order to view and experience some of the newest and most exciting products in the beauty, spa and wellness markets. I’ve been going to these events for years, starting out as a model and cosmetics rep.
Only those with working credentials in the industry can come and interact with hair and cosmetic vendors. They are able to buy everything from stylist smocks to 24–carat facial masks. Buy it on the spot in–bulk or just sample to order later.
Massage therapists can test-run the latest chairs; aestheticians can try out new treatments; hair stylists can observe demonstrations on new curling equipment and weave techniques.
Visitors can register to attend seminars on how to engage customers between appointments, how to brand and promote their business, and learn of new regulations in their specialty. Those with a three-day pass gain a lot of knowledge in their craft!
Seen in the above video:
- #jetpeel_official Jet Peel uses pressurized air with fine mists that exfoliate in a non-invasive way.
- #biofrancelab BioFrance Lab has a full range of products from serums to jelly peel–off facial masks to 24k gold ingredients.
- #karinherzog.us Active oxygen is the key part of Karin Herzog line and is made in Switzerland.
- #bushbalm Bush Balm specializes in hair removal from sensitive skin, particularly around the bikini area.
- #StaceyPearlSkin An American in Paris and former model, Stacey Pearl developed the Le Fix Wand, a microdermabrasion system that removes the top layer and renews skin. She created her line to be especially good for melanated skin.
In the IESC, attendees can sample and buy everything from cotton robes to massage chairs and more. So many companies; three here:
- #jetpeel_official JetPeel uses pressurized air with fine mists that exfoliate in a non-invasive way.
- #buce_official Just watching the BÜCE Head Spa System rejuvenated my scalp; I wished I could drop everything and try it!
- #oasisdayspa Oasis Day Spa had a massage station at the show. They have locations in midtown Manhattan and Dobbs Ferry.
The hair care section of the exhibit did not disappoint. There were stylists wearing microphoned headsets describing their techniques as they demonstrated. Seminars were held covering all topics from how to handle salon finances to customer retention. Everything can be purchased at the booths, from hair dyes to high-powered professional barber shavers and more:
- #rebelqueenhair Rebel Queen is formulated for curly hair.
- #kerriecapelliusa Kerrie Capelli provides hair extensions and hair care products.
- #johnnybhaircare Johnny B Talc is used by barbers to absorb the oils during the haircut.
- #magicsleek Magic Sleek is a line of hair straightening and curl-defining products.
- #shinenjam Shine-n-Jam keeps braids smooth and under control. No stray fly-aways.
- #shunfaofficial Shunfahair continues innovations in hair pieces and toupees for men.
- #littleheroeshair Little Heroes Hair is a non-profit that creates free wigs for children under 18 who experience hair loss due to medical issues. This was my favorite booth; such an important cause.
Professionals learn new solutions for their customers who have hair loss concerns and all kinds of supplies can be purchased on site or ordered in bulk for their salons. Some companies at the IBS included:
- #shunfaofficial Shunfahair continues innovations in hair pieces and toupees for men.
- #kerriecapelliusa Kerrie Capelli provides hair extensions and hair care products.
- #littleheroeshair Little Heroes Hair is a non-profit that creates free wigs for children under 18 who experience hair loss due to medical issues. Such a great cause!
Professionals, business owners and beauty school students are able to buy everything from nail polish kits to eyelash glue and more.
- #rudecosmetics Rude Cosmetics’ fun booth attracted a big young crowd.
- #eyelacelashes EyeLace are applied under, not above, your own lashes.
- #tmcdonaldcosmetics Was so impressed with Terry McDonald and her Level Up eyeshadow (and look at her bag!)
The Javits Center is a huge space, and it barely holds all the vendors and displays. Attendees can buy everything — from customers’ capes to makeup applicator brushes to 24–carat and LED facial masks and more. Buy them on the spot in–bulk or just purchase some samples and order more later.
In addition to all the aestetician procedures, hair, and makeup demonstrations on the floor, visitors can register to attend seminars with diverse topics such as how to engage customers between appointments, how to brand and promote their business, and learn of new regulations in their specialty. Those with a three-day pass gain a lot of valuable knowledge in their craft!
Can’t count how many great experiences I’ve had at the International Beauty Show and International Esthetics, Cosmetics and Spa Conference in New York City. This year’s convention did not disappoint.
